Health Tip: Walk for Good Health
Starting a walking regimen will help you feel better, stay healthier, and possibly lose weight.
The U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute offers these suggestions:
* Find a walking buddy, and set a firm walking schedule. Try to walk at least three times a week.
* Wear comfortable clothing, shoes and socks. Clothing shouldn't make you too warm or too cold.
* Drink plenty of water throughout the day. If possible, bring water with you during your walk.
* Your workout should consist of a warmup, a brisk walk, and a cool-down. All of these activities are important and shouldn't be neglected.
Health Tip: Chapped Hands
Dry, chapped hands can be painful and irritating. But, with proper care, you can get your hands in shape and keep them from drying out again.
The U.S. National Library of Medicine offers these suggestions:
* To both treat and prevent chapped hands, try to keep them out of water. Use gloves when you do dishes.
* Keep hands moisturized with rich lotions, creams or ointments.
* Don't wash hands with very hot water or harsh soaps or cleansers.
* See a dermatologist if you continue to have trouble with chapped hands.
